On Windows NT you can run the CCITCP2 daemon as an NT service by entering:
ccitcp2 -i
at the Micro Focus command prompt. (You must be logged on as a user with Administrator privilege to do this.)
Once installed as an NT service, CCITCP2 can be started and stopped via the Control Panel in the usual way.
You can use the -c option to install CCITCP2 as a service and run it in debug mode so that a console shows services being registered and connections being made:
ccitcp2 -c
Note that if CCITCP has already been installed as a non-console service it will need to be uninstalled first. To uninstall CCITCP2 as a service, use the -u option:
ccitcp2 -u
The -? option lists the available CCITCP2 startup modes.
If CCITCP2 is installed as an NT service, it will be started automatically when the NT system is re-started. If a non-service CCITCP2 has previously been added to the Windows Startup group, it should be removed; otherwise, Windows will try to start a second instance of CCITCP2.
If CCITCP2 is started from a command line with the -d (debug) option or installed as a service with the -c option, then pressing the F2 key will list the CCI services that are registered with the daemon. F4 toggles the echoing of the console output to the ccitcp2.log file in the current directory of the daemon.
If you have installed Micro Focus Enterprise Server for Windows, available with Net Express and also standalone, then the Micro Focus Directory Server (MFDS) will have been installed as a service, so there is no need to manually install CCITCP2 as a service. (If you have already installed CCITCP2 as a service, stop it and uninstall it before installing Micro Focus Enterprise Server for Windows.)
